J'ai eu la chance, en tant qu'éditrice de côtoyer une grande poétesse inuite, Mme Emily Novalinga. Emily a publié un titre au Soleil de minuit, L’écho du Nord, magnifiquement illustré par Claude Thivierge. Malheureusement, Emily nous a quittés trop tôt. Son grand rêve était de se faire publier à nouveau. Non pas pour la gloire ou pour sa satisfaction personnelle, elle avait plutôt foi en la puissance de mots et voulait donner de l’espoir, particulièrement à ceux que la vie malmène.
Je crois qu’elle ne m’en voudra pas de partager ce poème avec vous. Il a été rédigé en anglais, sa langue seconde.
Though life is life
I think I can live the way I want to
by making the best choices of it
And be amongst those whom I fit
Though life is alone
I think I can see beauty of each surroundings
by making myself see that loneliness does not exist
And be amongst the beautiful list
Though life is best
I think I can hear one word that says
possible
by making it happen with the talent I have
And be amongst those who can make it all possible
I am now in the right place with the right people
And it is leading me to help those who are in need
And be amongst those who often say
The stories you are about to do are going
To be wonderful.
I am now making the difference
By reaching out to others
The life I had chosen is going to get better and better
in advance
through experiences that are in order.
